"They still have a lot to experience...and I don't say that lightly."

Is it just me or are the subjects of reality television shows becoming younger and younger? Next think you know there is going to be a reality show about what goes on during recess at elementary schools, for god sakes!
"Did Kelly push Tammie down? Will Mike circle 'yes' or 'no' on the note that Sara passed him? Who will get to use the basketball net at lunch hour? We'll find out next week on Bravo's new series 'Grade School Confidential'"
It's ridiculous!
Bravo's new series 'NYC Prep' follows the lives of six high school students (who don't all necessarily go to Prep school). The youngest subject is a girl named Taylor who is 15 years old and attends one of the top rated public schools in the country. She is eerily mature for her age and is already going on dates to fancy french restaurants with boys who are talking about 'hook ups'. How creepy is it that adults are following the dating lives of 15 year old girls? What sort of adult wants to listen to a 15 year old talk about her turn ons?
So creepy.

"There are people dying, if you care enough for the living, make a better place for you and for me."

“In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.”
~Michael Jackson
We have lost so many public figures over the past few weeks. Michael Jackson, Farah Fawcett, Billy Mays, Ed McMahon, David Carradine...It is unfortunate that in death, as in life, these people are unable to be at peace. Speculation about cause of death, intense media scrutiny and dramatic new 'revelations' about their lives are keeping these people from being able to rest. We are turning this difficult time into a circus instead of mourning.
The thing that bothers me the most is that you cannot turn on your television, radio or computer without being inundated with some random celebrities take on these tragedies. I don't particularily care how Justin Timberlake, Estelle, P. Diddy or Elizabeth Taylor feel about Michael Jacksons death, do you? Shouldn't these people be able to mourn the loss of their friend/hero/family member in peace?
When we lose someone that we care about, be it a friend, an inspiration, a mother, a father, a hero, we should all be able to concentrate on what we loved most about them. Their spirit, their voice, their ideals, their body of work....that should speak for them in death as it did in life.
"We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will."

“We teachers are rather good at magic, you know.”

The new posters for 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'.
Ah-may-zing.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. ~Dr. Seuss

I gave blood today.
I have only given blood once, in highschool. After that I came up with excuse after excuse when Canadian blood services called me (I just got a piercing, I just had a tattoo done, I just got another piercing, etc.). I'm not sure why I kept putting it off. Fear mostly, I suppose. I don't like needles (I don't think anyone does) and I'm not a huge fan of large quantities of blood.
By some twist of fate I was given the day off of work and as I was walking back to my car I noticed the 'blood van' and I thought 'why not return the favour to the universe?' I am not normally superstitious but I do believe that if the universe gives you something you should give something back.
So take some time today to give back to the universe.

"Popularity is not an indication of quality."

I would like to think that I have gotten over the need to prove myself to other people. If you want to be friends with me that's fine...if you don't...your loss (because I'm awesome). But I am not going to spend another year of my life being someone I'm not so that I can be part of the 'cool crowd'.
I am more concerned with spending my time finding out who I actually am!

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.

First off I would like to say that I am very grateful because everyday I get to work with people I love. However, this can often be as much a burden as it is a blessing.
Today I reached my breaking point. Over the past few weeks my co-workers have faced challenge after challenge head on, pulling together (for the most part) and doing incredible things. Perhaps that is why I am so disappointed now...after seeing that it was possible for everyone to pull together it is even more upsetting when people begin to take short cuts and disrespect their co-workers. Don't you have any pride in your work? I know that for most of us this is a job and not a career but I still don't understand how people can half-ass their work and walk out with their head held high.
How can you be proud of yourself? It's not like you are leaving extra work for some stranger...you're leaving it for your friends to do. You expect them to pick up the slack because you 'have plans' or are hung over etc. etc.
Haven't we seen what we can do when we all work together? Didn't that fill you with pride? Why can't we work like that all the time? What will it take to make us a team everyday?
"A team is more than a collection of people. It is a process of give and take."

"I was hiding under your porch because I love you....can I come in?"

You must see this film.
You must see it with a box of kleenex.
You must not see it on a date.
I guarentee you will love it.
If you don't...well...you have no soul...and that's your problem.
